Saturday, 24 July 2010 13:23

The Asokore Police in the Ashanti Region have mounted a vigorous search for an ex NPP chairman of Effiduase in the Region, Nana Afram Agyeman for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in a classroom.

The case was confirmed to Citi News by the Asokore Divisional Police Commander Superintendent Alex Amenyo.

According to Superintendent Amenyo, Nana Afram Agyeman, 65, allegedly lured the young girl (name withheld) into one of the classrooms of Effiduase T.I. Ahmadiya Primary School and slept with her.

Following a tip-off from a friend, the brother of the victim, who subsequently reported the case to the police, caught the two in the act in a renovated classroom at about 7pm in the evening.

According to Superintendent Amenyo, the police have since mounted a search for the former NPP Chair of Effiduase but it has so far not yielded any results.

According to the TODAY Newspaper, sources in the community say the young girl was not the only victim of the former NPP chairman, further alleging that he easily gets away each time he was ‘caught’ for haven defiled a young girl.

“This same man has defiled about two teenagers already that are the ones I know and his family would always plead for a settlement at home and then they go and pay millions of money to the family of the victim”, a source is quoted as saying.

The source stated that Nana Afram Agyeman had not traveled to Accra, as was initially reported, but was rather in his room in Effiduase, receiving protection from his family, an act, he noted, was usual of them whenever such issues cropped up.
