DSP Tehoda remanded again; Asimenu arrested in Woyome scandal

Police chief DSP Gifty Tehoda who has been accused of swapping cocaine exhibit with baking powder has been remanded again in court.
This follows fresh charges leveled against her by state prosecution.
Joy News’ Sammy Darko who was present at the Circuit Court, reported that DSP Tehoda has been accused of promoting enterprise relating to narcotics.
According to Darko, Tehoda is alleged to have swapped the cocaine after her attempt to bribe the judge sitting on the case with 5,000 cedis failed.
She had been in and out of police custody in a fierce attempt by her lawyers to secure bail.
But her lawyers have disputed the claims by the prosecution.
One of them told Joy News they are not surprised with the action taken by the prosecution, adding they are well prepared for them.
The lawyer said even though their earlier applications for bail have been declined, they will take other steps to question the conduct of the prosecution.
In another development Paul Asimenu, a Director at the Legal Department of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning has also been arrested over the controversial judgement debt paid to Alfred Woyome.
He will be assisting with investigations.
Annie Osabutey who was present at the Police Headquarters, said Alfred Woyome, the prime suspect is still in police custody despite several attempts by his lawyers to secure his release.
His spokesperson, Kwame Tawiah, told Osabutey attempts by lawyers for Woyome to secure bail have been futile thus far.
According to him, officers claim to be waiting for orders from the presidency before a decision could be taken.
