The Daily Graphic on January 2 this year reviewed an article by the London Financial Times which expressed the view that Ghana could become “an emerging black power rather than an aid-dependent African reformer collecting World Bank stars”.

Despite many interventions to correct the imbalance, gender inequality still persists in much of the world, including Ghana. In poor and middle income countries, females are more likely to be poor than males while primary and secondary school enrolment is lower for girls than boys. In developing countries, women are more likely to work as unpaid labourers than men.
